The Dating Standards Calculator is an entertainment and educational tool. This disclaimer explains what the website is, what it is not, and the limits you should keep in mind before drawing any conclusion from a result. Please read it in full.

Entertainment and educational purpose

The website exists to make a point about probability in a way that is quick and, we hope, a little fun. It turns a set of dating preferences into a statistical estimate so that an online argument can be replaced with a number. It is not a scientific instrument, a diagnostic test, or a professional service, and it should be enjoyed in that spirit.

Statistical estimates, not guarantees

Every number the calculator produces is an estimate based on public datasets. It describes the population as a whole, not the specific people in your town, your workplace, or your favorite app. A result of one percent does not mean a fixed count of real, available, compatible people. It means that, across the modeled population, roughly that share would meet the filters you set. Treat the figure as a rough guide, never as a promise.

The delusion score is not a judgment

The delusion score measures how statistically rare a combination of filters is, and nothing more. A high score means the mix you asked for is uncommon in the data. It is not a comment on your worth, your appearance, your personality, or your choices, and it is not a claim that your preferences are wrong. People are free to want what they want. The tool simply shows how the numbers stack up.

Not professional advice

Nothing on this website is professional advice of any kind. It is not relationship or dating counseling, it is not psychological or medical guidance, and it is not financial or legal advice. If you are making a decision that affects your health, your finances, your legal situation, or your relationships, speak to a qualified professional who can consider your individual circumstances.

No predictions about individuals

The calculator cannot tell you anything certain about any single person. Statistics work at the level of groups, not individuals. Two people with identical stats can have completely different dating lives, because attraction, timing, values, effort, and luck are not in any dataset. The tool says nothing about whether you will meet someone, or whether a particular match will work out.

Population-level, not local

Figures on this website reflect national populations. Your local reality can look very different. Cities skew younger, some regions skew by sex, and specific communities have their own patterns. A national estimate is a useful baseline, but it is not a map of your neighborhood.

Data accuracy and currency

We build our distributions from reputable public sources such as the US Census Bureau, the CDC, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and we try to keep them current. Even so, survey data is collected on a lag, methods change between releases, and different sources can disagree. Figures here may be a year or more old, and small differences from other published numbers are normal. We update our tables when new releases become available.

Measured versus self-reported data

Where we can, we use data that is physically measured rather than self-reported, because people tend to overstate height and understate weight. Some sources, particularly for other countries, rely on self-report and therefore read differently. We note these differences on the methodology page so you can weigh the numbers accordingly.

Third-party sources and links

The website references data produced by third parties and may link to external sites. We do not control those sources or sites and are not responsible for their content or accuracy. Any reliance you place on third-party material is at your own risk.

Advertising

The website may display advertising to cover the cost of running it. Ads are provided by third-party networks, and their presence is not an endorsement. We do not control which specific ads appear, and we are not responsible for the products or services they promote.

Errors and omissions

We take care to get things right, but the website may contain errors, omissions, or out-of-date information. We make no warranty that the content is complete or accurate, and we are not liable for any action taken in reliance on it. If you spot a mistake, we would genuinely like to hear about it through the contact page.

Tone and satire

Part of the website, including the optional result tones, is written with humor. The playful and blunt tones are meant to entertain and to make a statistical point, not to insult anyone. If a result made you laugh, that was the idea. If it stung, remember it is only arithmetic.

Fair use of statistics

The figures we cite come from public datasets that are free to access. We present them for commentary, education, and analysis, and we do not claim ownership of the underlying government data. Where we summarize or reshape a statistic, we aim to keep its meaning intact, but the authoritative version always lives with the original source. If you plan to rely on a number for anything important, go back to the primary source and confirm it there.

Regional availability

The calculator is built around United States demographic data, with reference figures for a handful of other countries. If you are outside these regions, the numbers may not reflect your local population at all, and you should treat them as a general illustration rather than anything specific to where you live.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for how you use the website and what you take from it. The tool is designed to inform and entertain, not to make decisions for you. Please use good judgment, keep the entertainment purpose in mind, and do not treat a score or a percentage as a reason to change how you see yourself or anyone else. The math describes a population. It does not define you.

Changes to this disclaimer

We may update this disclaimer as the website changes. The date shown at the top of this page reflects the latest version. By continuing to use the site, you accept the current disclaimer.
