The delusion score compresses the share of people who match your standards into a single number from 1 to 10, where a higher score means a smaller, rarer matching pool. If you set filters for height, income, age, and a few other traits, the calculator estimates what percentage of the adult population clears all of them at once. A large surviving pool produces a low score. A tiny surviving pool produces a high one. That is the whole idea. The number is a compact way to say how common or uncommon a person who fits every one of your criteria actually is.

What the number actually measures
Start with the pool. In the United States there are roughly 128 million adult men. Score 1 to 2: very open
A result in this band means roughly half the population or more still fits your filters. You have set few hard limits, or the limits you set exclude only a small slice. An example combination: any age within a normal adult range, no height requirement, and an income floor near the median. Most people clear a bar like that, so the pool stays large and the score stays low. There is nothing weak about landing here. It usually means your must haves are short and your flexibility is high.
Score 3 to 4: selective
Now you keep somewhere around a quarter to just under half of the pool. You have added a real preference or two that meaningfully narrows things without cutting deep. A combination that tends to land here: a moderate age range plus a single trait that removes more than half the field, such as a modest income floor combined with a loose height preference. The label is selective because you are clearly choosing, but the person you describe is still common. You would expect to find one in a small group.
Score 5 to 6: moderate to demanding
This is the middle of the scale, and it is where a lot of realistic results sit. Your matching share is around 10 to 20 percent, roughly 1 in 7. A typical combination: a height requirement of 6 feet or taller on its own already brings you close to this band, since it alone keeps only about 14.5 percent of men. Add a mild age window and you stay here. People in this range are common enough to meet through normal life, but you are no longer describing an average person. You are describing a specific segment.
Score 7 to 8: very demanding
At this level only a few percent of the population clears every filter, on the order of 1 in 20. Reaching it almost always takes two strong filters stacked together. A classic example: 6 feet or taller and earning 100,000 dollars or more. Height alone keeps about 14.5 percent and income alone keeps about 18 percent, so combining them lands well under 10 percent even after the calculator corrects for how the two traits relate. Add a tight age range and you push toward the top of this band. The people you describe exist in real numbers, but you would look through a large group before meeting one.
Score 9 to 10: statistically extreme
Here the matching share drops under 2 percent, and often far under it, into odds of 1 in 100 or rarer. You reach this band by stacking several strong filters at once, or by setting one filter to an extreme value. An example: 6 feet 2 inches or taller, income above 150,000 dollars, a narrow age band, and one more trait on top. Each filter is reasonable by itself. Together they describe someone so rare that the pool shrinks to a sliver. A score of 10 does not say such a person cannot exist. It says the arithmetic of stacking has made them very hard to find.
Why one filter usually decides your band
Scores rarely creep up evenly. In most results, a single filter does the heavy lifting and the rest fine tune the number. The filter that moves things most is the one that removes the largest slice of the population on its own. For many people, that filter is height.

If you land at a 9, you have described a rare one. Neither outcome says anything about whether your standards are good, fair, or achievable for you. Those are personal questions the number cannot answer.
